Saudi Arabia’s new airline, Riyadh Air, has reached a major milestone today by receiving its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA). According to GACA, the airline’s application process was successfully completed in accordance with civil aviation regulations and safety standards.
The new carrier aims to operate flights to over 100 international destinations by 2030. Steps to build the fleet are already underway. Riyadh Air has placed an order for 72 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. Additionally, under an agreement signed last October, the airline plans to purchase 60 Airbus A321neo aircraft, with deliveries expected to begin in 2025 to kick off operations.
